In 1943 lyricist Lorenz Hart (Ethan Hawke) confronts his shattered self-confidence in a bar as his former collaborator, Richard Rodgers, celebrates the opening night of his groundbreaking hit musical “Oklahoma!”

The Broadway hits The Lady Is a Tramp, Manhattan, My Funny Valentine and of course Blue Moon, were all created by Rogers and Hart, but following a professional break-up Rogers went on the collaborate with Hammerstein, leaving Hart to contemplate his shortcomings in Richard Linklater’s sensitive biopic.
