Storyhouse Elders: Chester Football Club on Screen

Event details

Chester FC Historian and Statistician, Chas Sumner, recently obtained film footage of the old football stadium on Sealand Road in 1963 showing views of the ground as well as the players in training and colour footage of a league match against Chesterfield.

The film was made by two college students on a teacher training course. They had been tasked with making a film on a subject of their choice. Sixty-two years after the film was made the son of one of the students uncovered the film, digitised it and gifted it to Chas and the football club.

Chas has used his knowledge to write a fascinating collection of stories to go with the film and will also talk about the history of the ground in ten photographs.

So far, the film has only been shown at the football club and this is an exclusive to the Storyhouse cinema screen. Hear from Chas who will share his research and make time for questions at the end.
