Disney’s live-action feature film about the rebellious early days of one of cinema’s most notorious and notoriously fashionable villains, the legendary Cruella de Vil. In 1970s London amid the punk rock revolution, an orphaned young woman pursues a career as a fashion designer, setting her on a journey of wicked transformation.
OUR TAKE:
This modern take on Cruella offers a bold new perspective on an iconic character. While she may not be everyone’s favourite, Emma Stone brings a rebellious “bad girl” energy to the role that makes her a fascinating lead. The film places fashion at the centre of its story, framing it as a powerful form of self-expression and rebellion. Through dramatic, unconventional and visually striking designs and set pieces, fashion becomes a way for our anti-hero to fight back, reinvent her identity and stand apart from tradition, showing how what we wear and the way we wear it can communicate who we are to the world.
