Mallory and The Mountain

A New Musical in Concert

Event details

Book, Music & Lyrics By Ollie Mills

1924, Mount Everest.

In a valiant push to be the first to reach the summit, George Mallory and Sandy Irvine vanish forever into the clouds…but did they make it to the top?

Based on an inspiring true story, MALLORY AND THE MOUNTAIN is a new musical that recounts an adventurous life that begins with an ambitious young boy in Cheshire, climbing to the top of a church tower and having visions of a world beyond his wildest imagination.

With a powerful score that combines folk-rock with cinematic soundscapes to bring Everest to life, the show unpacks mountaineering’s biggest mystery in a story of courage, conquest and the price of dreams.

The show has been previewed at Hope Mill Theatre and The Lowry, before a presentation at BEAM New Musical Theatre Festival at Oxford Playhouse in 2023, supported by Mercury Musical Developments and Musical Theatre Network.

We’re 800 ft from the summit, but a storm is closing in. To push on would be perilous, to turn back would mean failure…so, what is it worth?”
