Mrs Dalloway
An invitation to a party you won’t want to miss.
Event details
A co-production of Storyhouse, Harlow Playhouse, and CutToTheChase Productions.
Experience Virginia Woolf like never before in this moving, witty, and dazzingly theatrical adaptation of a modern masterpiece. MRS DALLOWAY is adapted and directed by award-winning director Jen Heyes, co-created with and starring Olivier Award-winning artist Kit Green (Tina C, Ida Barr), who also transforms into all 16 roles – including that of Woolf herself.
A single day, unfolding both in June 1923 – and in this very moment. Clarissa Dalloway travels across London preparing for her party, while war veteran Septimus Smith struggles with the horrors of his own experience. Their stories unfold side by side; blurring past and present, memory and identity.
Fusing drama, live music, film and technical artistry into a fully immersive experience of modern cine-theatre, Mrs Dalloway invites you into Woolf’s world to ask – what makes us who we are?
Please note that this production includes discussions of mental illness and post-traumatic stress disorder, as well as depictions of death by suicide.
