Rose of Nevada

Mark Jenkin’s Rose of Nevada comes to Storyhouse with its score performed live in the main theatre by Mark Jenkin and Dion Star as The Cornish Sound Unit.

When a fishing boat, the Rose of Nevada, lost with all hands 30 years ago, mysteriously reappears in the old harbour of a forgotten Cornish village, for those who remember, it’s surely a sign. The boat must go out to sea again and maybe then the luck of the devastated village will turn.

Using tape machines, analogue synths, guitars, feedback and field recordings, The Cornish Sound Unit will perform composed and improvised music alongside the film.

Starring George MacKay, Callum Turner, Rosalind Eleazar and Mary Woodvine, this is a chance to experience Jenkin’s haunting Cornish folktale with its sound taking shape live in the auditorium.
