Event details

This event is part of Storyhouse Women Weekend

Join us for a candid and intimate conversation between two remarkable women as they discuss grief and the journey to survival. In this unique fly-on-the-wall style event, you’ll hear Mel’s poignant story—a police officer and mother whose life was upended by the death of her husband to cancer in her 30s.

Engage in a heartfelt conversation as Mel shares her journey of immersing herself in the great outdoors and harnessing the healing powers of nature to navigate the profound grief and loss she experienced. In dialogue with her old school friend, researcher, and academic Dr. Caroline Mogan —an expert in death, dying, and bereavement—Mel’s story unfolds. Described as a “powerhouse” by Dr. Mogan, Mel’s tale is one of resilience, inspiration, and empowerment.

Expect themes of death, dying, and grief, intertwined with strong language and humour. This event promises to leave you feeling warm, inspired, hopeful, and empowered to open doors to new possibilities.
