Event details

This event is part of Storyhouse Women Weekend

Are you or do you know someone who cares for others, and isn’t paid for it? Join us to hear and share stories, connect with others and, crucially, get support. Be part of the conversation!

Unveil the often unseen world of unpaid care work, where 59% of caregivers are women, according to Census 2021. This event sheds light on the disproportionate burden shouldered by women in providing extensive hours of unpaid care, often at the expense of potential paid work opportunities. (Petrillo and Bennett, 2022). This relaxed, insightful session that recognises the remarkable contributions of unpaid caregivers, including the remarkable story of a woman who has dedicated over 30 years to caregiving. Laura Holden from Cheshire and Warrington Carers will be present to offer valuable information and guidance, covering the definition of a caregiver, available support, and existing networks.

Facilitated by Councillor Adam Langan, this event is an opportunity for you to feel uplifted, well-informed, and connect with others who share similar experiences. Come and be part of a conversation that celebrates the often unsung heroes in our communities.
