Join us for a hand-picked selection of eight short films created by young filmmakers from the North West of England and North Wales, curated by a passionate team of Film and Media Studies students at the University of Chester: Jasmine Davies, Keisha Bartlett, Celyn Williams, and Fiers Lewin.
Each film has been made by a student or filmmaker under 25 living in the North West or North Wales, showcasing emerging talent from across the region.
These are stories with real heart and soul, and we’re proud to share them with you. We can’t wait for you to experience them with us.

Four students’ bond over an early Christmas dinner, while sharing their troubled family lives they realise that their student flat might offer the family they desire. Through mutual support and shared experiences, they discover solace and the true essence of “family” during the holiday season.

A short documentary that explores the Menai Bridge and the charity surrounding it, The Menai Heritage Trust.
Out There? Felicity Perry
A British, first-year university student-made short documentary following a group of queer and non-binary people of colour based in London and how they connect with nature and develop themselves in a journey to the Peak District.
Sincerely Yours, Always & Forever Sam Oddie
20 years after his grandmother’s passing, filmmaker Sam Oddie discovers a box of her most precious memories, opening it for the first time. Piecing together her story of finding love, being torn apart, and being connected once again. A photo, a ticket, a letter. A exploration into how memories hold stories and creates paths to be closer together.

The Saffron Thread Neeyati Singh, Oscar Warrillow & Rishit Goswami
This film is a heartfelt exploration of immigrant entrepreneurship in Manchester’s Curry Mile, focusing majorly on two stores: Bardez and Jafra; and the remarkable individuals who run them. At its core, this is a story about immigrants who have carved out livelihoods in a foreign land not just for themselves, but for their staff, families, and the wider student community.
