Join us for a very special second birthday celebration of The Blue Lantern Sessions at Storyhouse. Over the past two years, this much loved series has grown into a unique live music experience, with numerous sell out shows and unforgettable nights in the fairy lit Garret Theatre. More than a gig, it has become a gathering for artists and audiences to share in the intimacy and magic of live acoustic music.

Created by Welsh folk pop duo Igloo Hearts, the series was inspired by the open mic night where they first met, also called The Blue Lantern. As seen on Channel 4’s The Piano and S4C’s Y Llais (The Welsh Voice), Igloo Hearts host each evening with a short opening set before welcoming a carefully selected support act and headline artist.

Expect a warm, immersive night of outstanding acoustic music, goosebump moments, and a celebration of two brilliant years of The Blue Lantern Sessions as we look ahead to the next chapter.

Georgia Ruth

Hailing from Aberystwyth in West Wales, Georgia Ruth has established herself as one of the most distinctive voices in contemporary folk music. Blending traditional influences with poetic songwriting and rich melodies, her acclaimed debut album Week of Pines won the Welsh Music Prize and earned two BBC Radio 2 Folk Award nominations.

Since then, Georgia has collaborated with the Manic Street Preachers, released the critically praised albums Fossil Scale and Mai, and continued to evolve her sound through a series of celebrated EPs. In 2024, she returns with her fourth studio album, Cool Head, showcasing the warmth, depth and artistry that have made her such a respected figure on the folk scene.

“Her own debut is a wonder, full of longing and melody” – MOJO

“One of the British folk discoveries of the year” – The Guardian

“Georgia is finding her own distinct voice” – Q Magazine

A captivating songwriter and performer whose live shows are both intimate and unforgettable, Georgia Ruth is an artist not to be missed.
