Malibu brat Poppy Moore lives a pampered life in her L.A world, but when she finally spends the last of her father’s patience, she’s shipped off to her late mother’s former British boarding school. There, her rebellious attitude immediately clashes with headmistress Mrs. Kingsley and the school lacrosse captain, Harriot. Determined to get herself expelled, Poppy sets out to break every rule in the book, but soon discovers friendship and belonging may be more important than getting her own way.
OUR TAKE:
Wild Child connects directly to our themes of fashion, rebellion and identity. As Poppy moves from the US to the UK, her bright, expressive designer wardrobe immediately clashes with the strict and grey school uniforms. Embracing Y2K fashion, music and teen culture, Poppy gives her dorm mates glamorous makeovers and defies school rules by accessorising and subverting traditional trends. Yet as she rebels with “It Girl” confidence, her own sensibilities begin to evolve. A generation-defining cult comedy, Wild Child has endured thanks to its iconic fashion, noughties nostalgia and wholesome coming-of-age story, continuing to inspire trends and resonate with new teen audiences in the TikTok and Brat Summer era.
