Produced by Storyhouse, working within Lache.

The Projects

Food Comunita

Tyler, supported by Cian and Herbert

Desire for change: Create a safe space to support young people’s wellbeing.

Idea: Tyler wanted to create a space for 11–14-year-olds that he would have benefited from at that age. Food Comunita will work with local organisations and businesses to offer seven weekly sessions for young people who need support with their wellbeing. The sessions will include opportunities to connect with others over a meal, learn strategies to manage mental health, take part in mindful crafts, and enjoy fun activities. Tyler aims to secure funding to continue the project into Cycle 3.

Pop up Cinema Lache

Magenta, supported by Seden

Desire for change: Create an opportunity for the community to have a shared experience.

Idea: Magenta wanted to create opportunities for the community to come together and enjoy film. Working with the community centre and St Clare’s Primary School, Pop Up Cinema will offer affordable cinema experiences for families in Lache. They will run two sessions in the community centre and host an outdoor cinema experience, complete with themed crafts, popcorn and snacks. Magenta plans to create a lasting legacy for the project by supporting the community centre to continue hosting family movie nights after the project has finished.

StudySphere

Lily, supported by Charlie

Desire for change: Support wellbeing during exam stress.

Idea: While studying for her GCSEs, Lily wanted to create an inviting local study space for young people in Lache. Recognising that revision can feel both stressful and lonely, she aims to create a welcoming communal environment with everything needed to study, including brain-boosting snacks! As a legacy to the project, Lily will create a study resource that can be used in local school revision sessions.

Storytellers

Ethan, supported by Nancy

Desire for change: Encourage acceptance of differences.

Idea: Ethan was concerned about how difficult it can be for some people to be accepted within their communities. They want to help families start conversations with their children about accepting differences. Working with Lache Library, Ethan will curate a book collection that promotes inclusion and celebrates diversity. To launch the collection, they will host three storytelling and craft workshops, led by Fyre Syde Arts at Lache Library, aimed at families with young children. Following the project, Ethan hopes to secure funding to bring the collection to other local libraries and continue running regular storytelling sessions in Lache.
