When bored uptown New Yorker Paul Hackett (Griffin Dunne) sets out on a late-night date with downtown girl Marcy Franklin (Rosanna Arquette), he is uncontrollably drawn into a series of improbable events setting him off on a wild, malevolent, and paranoid misadventure through mid-80s New York City.
