Reel Talk is a monthly meet-up & discussion group led by the Storyhouse Cinema team, taking place the first Thursday of every month at Storyhouse.
Each session will revolve around an informal discussion about a film or theme of the month, whilst also giving you the opportunity to meet and get to know other like-minded film fans.
Hosted by a friendly member of the Storyhouse Cinema Team, Reel Talk will encourage a non-judgemental and inclusive atmosphere; no expertise is needed, everyone is welcome to come along and chat.
Reel Talk is free to join but please reserve a place before attending.
This month, the cinema team will be reflecting on the incredible half-century career of one of cinema’s greatest directors, Martin Scorsese, as his highly anticipated Western crime drama Killers Of The Flower Moon approaches release.
From Mean Streets (1973) to The Irishman (2019), Scorsese’s illustrious filmography spans five decades with hit after hit, including Taxi Driver (1976), Raging Bull (1980), Goodfellas (1990), and Shutter Island (2010), just to name a few!
Please note this month’s meet-up will take place in the Library Meeting Room.
In this month’s Reel Talk, the cinema team will be discussing the BFI’s latest nationwide film season, Cinema Unbound: The Creative Worlds of Powell and Pressburger.
Join us in celebration of one of the greatest and most enduring filmmaking partnerships in the history of cinema: Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger, whose iconic films include The Red Shoes (1948), A Matter of Life and Death (1946), and Black Narcissus (1947). We’ll be discussing both their films and their enduring influence on the world cinema.
In December’s humorous film meet-up, the group will be sharing their favourite films that fall into the category of “so bad, it’s good!”
From Rotten Tomatoes and Raspberry Awards to the hilarious bombs of yesteryear, we’ll be digging up the worst pictures to ever grace the big screen.
