Chester Filmmakers is a free monthly community group for local filmmakers.

Catch a 60-minute short film showcase at Storyhouse Cinema, followed by relaxed conversations in The Kitchen.

We welcome short film submissions from all abilities, backgrounds and experience levels. Come along to discover work by local and regional talent, and be part of a growing community of filmmakers.

Want to see your work on the big screen? We’re looking for local talent to feature in our upcoming monthly showcases at Storyhouse Cinema. Submit on FilmFreeway, or contact us using the form below.

Terms of submission:
  • Film Length & Format: We accept films with a maximum duration of 20 minutes. Works-in-progress, standalone scenes, and excerpts are also welcome.
  • Attendance: To support and develop our community group, filmmakers must be available to attend the screening in person to introduce their work and participate in post-screening conversations.
  • Eligibility & Location: We are highlighting local talent. Submissions are open to filmmakers based in Chester, Cheshire, and surrounding areas (including Liverpool, Manchester, Warrington, and North Wales).
  • Age Requirement: All submitting filmmakers must be 18 years of age or older.
