Jean Martyn and a Handbag of Harmonies
Event details
Jean Martyn, shot to fame in 2011, when she captured the hearts of 14 million viewers as a finalist in ITV’s Britain’s Got Talent, performing on her electric keyboard. A modern-day Vera Lynn, her infectious personality and toe tapping music boosted the morale of the nation with her online lockdown performances, which went viral globally. To date her YouTube clips have reached 550,000 views worldwide.
As predicted by BGT judge, Michael McIntyre, she now performs her own unique style of Jazz, swing, big band and orchestral music to vast audiences of 7,000 to 20,000 across the USA, the UK and Europe in top venues including Wembley Arena and the O2. Her throng of admirers include none other than David “the Hoff” Hoffman (“I absolutely love her, you make me so happy”), and Amanda Holden, who memorably paid her the highest compliment, likening her to Victoria Wood.
As part of her UK tour, Jean is bringing her fun and effervescent show to Chester for one night only. Joined by Chester’s very own A Handbag of Harmonies, be prepared for an evening of musical classics brought together as you’ve never seen or heard them before – think Sinatra meets ABBA, Motown, and Beyoncé, with an injection of Eurovision for good measure. Chester’s pink feather boas will be flying, and your toes will be tapping in what promises to be a night to remember.
