Lunchtime lectures: Shakespeare's magical thinking by Dr Graham Atkin

This event has passed

Event details

Presented by Dr Graham Atkin

In A Midsummer Night’s Dream Shakespeare lets his imagination run riot, with hilarious results. Against the forbidding patriarchy of the Athenian court he sets the wild woods, a place of play, magical transformation and unrestricted love. Dr Atkin explores how Shakespeare ‘bodies forth the forms of things unknown’ in his much-loved comedy.

Lunchtime Lectures is a collaboration between Storyhouse and the University of Chester, providing an open platform for debate on a range of topics and fascinating subjects.

Our Lunchtime Lectures are videoed and archived for future viewing, by attending you give permission for us to do so – thanks!
