Storyhouse Women: How to Be a F*cking Lady
An Unapologetic Evening of Feminist Conversation, Power, and Truth-Telling
Event details
Part of Storyhouse Women
What does it mean to be a “lady” in a world that still expects women+ and femmes to shrink, smile, and stay silent?
Join us for How to Be a F*cking Lady, a sharp, fearless evening of radical honesty, expert insights, and unapologetic dialogue. This isn’t about table manners or dress codes — it’s about negotiating power, identity, and survival in a world shaped by misogyny and unconscious bias.
Dr. Katie Edwards – writer, academic, broadcaster, and cultural critic – known for dismantling patriarchal nonsense with both intellect and wit, will be joined by a dynamic panel of women and non-binary voices.
Please note Dr Katie Edwards will no longer be part of the panel due to a family emergency. This event will still be going ahead as planned with the other speakers.
Together, we’ll unpack questions like:
🧠 How do you negotiate your life around unconscious bias tied to misogyny?
💥 What does success look like when the system was never designed for you to win?
💄 And what the hell does “being a lady” mean in 2025 anyway?
Expect truth bombs, hard questions, laughter, maybe some swearing, and absolutely no patience for performative feminism.
This event will be a varied combination of expert talks, panel discussion, debate and discussion groups.

A Queen Barbie isn’t a symbol of feminism – it reminds girls to know their place Suggesting that the Queen symbolises ‘the limitless potential of every girl’ is a poor taste joke at the expense of the vast majority of girls in this country”
“Kanye West’s weirdness doesn’t give us the right to tut at his ‘wife’. So what if Bianca Censori likes nude bodysuits? We see nipples and butt cracks on the red carpet all the time, so leave her alone – if she wants to weaponise her outfits, I say go for it…”
We wanted Britney to be ‘free’ – now let her be.” “We wanted a #FreeBritney who didn’t make us feel uncomfortable – one who behaved the way we wanted and expected. Well, that’s not really #FreeBritney at all now, is it?”
