Storyhouse Elders: The Dreamers Company present The Reunion!

The Dreamers Company return to Storyhouse Elders with ‘The Reunion!‘, a powerful new performance celebrating music, memory and movement across generations.

Revisiting the 1970s and bringing us up to the present day, The Reunion! is inspired by the music and nightlife of the company’s youth – from The Hacienda to The Reno, Shrine and The Nile – each performer shares their own story through song, dance and storytelling.

Expect a joyful, physical and uplifting show that invites you to sing, hum, dance – or simply sit back and enjoy!

The Dreamers Company (formerly known as Dominoes & Dahlias) are a group of elder African and African Caribbean women who celebrate ageing through performance. With the youngest member still in her 60s, the group challenges ageism and proudly shows what older people bring to their communities, while remembering their past and sharing their stories with younger generations. From partying to young love, their universal experiences remind us that our joy doesn’t disappear with age – in fact it grows with us.

Their message is simple but powerful: “We want to show younger people that we have had the same experiences, and they can learn from us, we are untapped resources.”
